Wright Brothers Memorial

On our big road trip this past September (or Junior Ranger Journey 2014! LOL!!) we made a stop at the Wright Brothers Memorial. It was super, super cool. Obviously, flying is huge to my family. DH is a pilot. I was a pilot. The kids fly with DH. It’s huge. To get to go see where it all started…where these two men had such vision…

And where they CLIMBED THAT HILL a thousand times.

It was breathtaking.

I think my favorite part of the visit was the realization of how much the local Coast Guardsmen at the Lifeboat Station at Kill Devils Hills contributed to the Wright Brother’s mission. They hauled, and hauled, and hauled those gliders up that hill. They supported and cheered. It was just awesome. To read more about it – please read this fabulous bit of Coast Guard history.

And no flight museum would be complete without a little Igor… Igor who? Obviously you’re not a RotorHead!
